Hannah H. goes to Washington

Where better to spend Presidents' Day Weekend than our nation's capital?

We did some sightseeing,

some protesting,

 

 and some seeing old friends,

 (John, Mike & Ed, Geneseo kindergarten class of 1982)

We also visited the Smithsonian Museum of American History where Hannah saw the Greensboro Woolworth's lunch counter (below) and offered the following civil rights lesson:

"A long time ago people with brown skin weren't allowed to eat in the museum."

We enjoyed riding the metro (let's call this pole frolicking, as opposed to dancing),

and stopped by to see cousin Janak's swanky pad.

We had a nice birthday dinner for dad and when the cake came out, Hannah led a rendition of the less traditional birthday song, the Star Spangled Banner, to the delight of the girls' volleyball team at the next table.

In Memoriam: Kay Mayer

Our beloved Kay Mayer, Hannah's great-grandmother, passed away last week.

She was 97.

Hannah, Maeve, Judy and I had just been to see her the Sunday before.

The ladies drew pictures and everyone had goldfish crackers.
